Mediterranean Gravel Garden

This is the corner of a garden which is routinely flooded in the winter, so we needed to raise the level to keep the roots dry. This was achieved using curved Corten Steel steps. We also created two large planters in Corten Steel to bookend the L shaped corner sofa.
These were planted with clipped yew spheres. Aromatic Mediterranean shrubs such as Rosemary, lavender purple sage, Euphorbia Wulfenii, bronze fennel and Santolina will eventually merge together to form a screen creating an intimate private space in the corner of the garden. As you walk along the winding path you step on thyme and marjoram, which give off a glorious scent.
